ABOUT TROY LAMBERT - A.K.A. THE PLOT DUDE

Hi. I'm Troy Lambert, sometimes known as "The Plot Dude." How did I get that name, and why the hell should you listen to me and read my books or take my courses?

First, I am an author first and foremost. The most important thing to me is my books and my own writing work. Without that, and me writing consistently, none of the rest of this matters all that much. I've written over thirty novels, countless short stories, and several works of non-fiction. You can find some of my books here, the ones about writing.

My fiction can be found on my sister site, at troylambertwrites.com. There's all kinds of stuff over there related to why I write what I write, the inspiration behind my stories, and news about what is next.

Second, I am an editor, book coach, and educator. I started editing years ago for a digital first romance publisher, and my career went from there. I've edited hundreds of manuscripts and helped countless authors bring their ideas into the world in a number of ways. I've coached authors through the process of finding their plots, refining them, and making them into stories that resonate with readers.

As an author educator, I worked a bit on my own, and then did a stint as the Education Lead for the writer planning software Plottr. That relationship ended (badly, so badly I no longer use or recommend their software). But I learned a lot more about story structure, adopting the methods of Lisa Cron in Story Genius combined with further study of structures like Save the Cat, Romancing the Beat, Story Engines, the Hero's Journey, and many more. In addition, I took master's courses from Katie Farmer, the creator of The Story Code and developer of the Katie Farmer Method of Story Analysis. I've studied semiotics, moral reasoning, emotional intelligence, the Enneagram as it applies to authors and fiction, and even a bit about Strenthfinders.

In short, I'm a story nerd. And I kinda want you to become one, too. But in that time I also learned a lot about the way authors think about story, and so I've developed courses designed for you, no matter where you are in your author career or journey, and how you plan or don't plan your stories.

Check out the courses page, the books page, and if you want to set up a time to chat or just contact me, book a time on my calendar using the button below.
